Atop a mesa in the Jemez Mountains, Los Alamos Golf Course offers a challenging Par 72, 18-hole layout through ponderosa pines and cottonwoods. Sloping fairways and small push-up greens provide a challenge to all levels of golfers. Built by the Atomic Energy Commission, Los Alamos is the second oldest 18-hole golf course in New Mexico. Now owned and operated by the County of Los Alamos, this well-maintained municipal course is a terrific value. Panoramic vistas and fresh mountain air at 7,300 feet above sea level, as well as weather that stays cool during peak summer heat, are just a few of the reasons to make the trip up the hill to Los Alamos.
